Does the way you dress, impact how you decorate?

100% YAS it does! This is what aesthetic style is about, observing how your intrinsic element & principle design combination is reflected in all visual aspects of your life. For some of you this may be easier than others.

Here's a question I received:
 "I love to dress in lots of crazy patterns BUT I wouldn't want to decorate my home in crazy patterns because I easily get sick of them and can't switch it up the way I can with clothes. So how can I use my love of pattern in decorating my home?"

GREAT question!  The key is to think beyond just the fabrics. You can use pattern in a lot of different ways. So let's define what 'pattern' means as a design principle.

PATTERN = a repeated shape, line, form, color etc. When you repeat the same thing over and over again, in an orderly and intentional way, it creates a pattern. In other words, there are many ways that you can create pattern in your home!

• By color
• By shape
• By object

These are ways to use your love of pattern in your home beyond patterned wallpaper or fabrics. You can create pattern using objects already in your home from the way you stack your books to the way you stack cups and bowls on a shelf (see image above).
